MNPD to offer child seat inspections Sept. 24

Certified child safety seat inspectors will be available Wednesday, September 24, at 10:30 a.m. at the West Police Precinct (6730 Charlotte Avenue). The inspectors will provide free safety sea checks to ensure that children are receiving the maximum protection possible when riding in motor vehicles.

During the inspections, officers will provide instruction on the proper installation of safety seats and check seat model numbers against those that have been the subject of manufacturer recalls.  The importance of safety seat inspections is highlighted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s estimate that three out of four child safety seats are improperly installed.
