The Sylvan Park Neighborhood Association (SPNA) is the collective community voice for addressing neighborhood issues such as zoning and development, traffic calming, safety, and neighborhood beautification.

SPNA meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Cohn School (Senior Renaissance Center). Email spna@sylvanpark.org for details.

Living Word Church festival this Sunday (Feb. 22)

The Living Word International Church (5100 Wyoming Avenue) will hold a community festival this Sunday, Feb. 22, at 3 p.m. Neighbors are invited to attend this free event. Organizers report that there will be plenty of food, music and entertainment. Attendees are welcome to bring dishes as well if they like. For more information, please call (615) 297-7437.

RCWA to hold workshops next week (Feb. 23 and 25)

The Richland Creek Watershed Alliance will hold seasonal workshops on Monday, Feb. 23, and Wednesday, Feb. 25, at the Cohn Adult Learning Center (4805 Park Avenue).
Rain Barrel Workshop: February 23rd from 6 to 7:30 p.m. A Rain Barrel for Your Garden. One lucky participant will go home with an adapted rain barrel as a door prize; all will learn how to make their own. Multiple adaptations to barrels presented and tips shared to make your barrel useful and efficient.

Rain Garden Workshop - February 25th from 6 to 8 p.m. Pre-registrants take home Patty Ghertner's rain garden handbook, filled with how-to illustrations and photographs of native plants.

MNPD drug arrests on 38th Avenue in Sylvan Heights

The Metro Nashville Police Department has reported the following drug-related arrests during the past week near Sylvan Park in Sylvan Heights:
West Precinct detectives charged 33 persons as the result of investigations on 38th Avenue North near Dakota Avenue, the 900 block of Davidson Road, Herman Street, and 11th Avenue South at Summitt Avenue. Seized were 370 grams of marijuana, 62 grams of mushrooms, two grams of hashish, 29 grams of cocaine, one gram of heroin, two vehicles, one weapon, and $643 cash.

RCWA to debut Richland Creek documentary Feb. 22

From the Richland Creek Watershed Alliance:
Please join us to celebrate the accomplishments of the Richland Creek Watershed Alliance and view the new documentary about the watershed, A Creek Story, on Sunday, February 22, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. at West Nashville United Methodist Church (4710 Charlotte Avenue).

Parking is available along 48th Avenue and across Charlotte Avenue at the Richland Park Library. The documentary will be shown a 4:45 p.m., and a reception will follow with light refreshments.
